What is the largest dog breed on the entire planet? Have you ever wondered what is the biggest dog in the world?

Before making a list, you have to define the biggest meaning. While some breeds are exceptionally tall, if you designate the world's largest dog breed as the heaviest, that's where your final stats will end up. Only breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club were considered in compiling this list.

We then developed a list based on the minimum acceptable weight for males of the breed. Here is the biggest dog in the world.

In the event of a tie, the greater the acceptable minimum weight, the higher the ranking of the world's largest dog.

The first entry in our search for the world's largest dog is the Dogue de Bordeaux. Also known as the Bordeaux Mastiff or the French Mastiff, it is the oldest dog breed in France. Known for being loyal, protective, and affectionate, this breed makes excellent guard dogs.

Male French Mastiffs can be up to 27 inches tall and weigh up to 110 pounds, while females can weigh up to 99 pounds. Arguably, this dog has the largest head of any breed in the world. (How does it compare to the largest dog ever? The massive canine is only a third (less, actually) smaller than the mastiff that broke the record in such stunning fashion.)

The breed originated in the Bordeaux region of France in the 14th century. People often use it to guard livestock and pull heavy carts. This breed is often considered the largest dog in the world.

This breed is a moderately active breed that needs daily exercise to stay in shape. However, it is important not to overwork these dogs, as their size and weight can also increase the likelihood of health problems such as stunted growth, digestive system and hearth problems.

This breed is also prone to wheat allergies, so it's important to check the ingredients in dog food before purchasing.
