Most French female cats will only have two to three babies per litter because the size of the mother has a lot to do with this. Like all other breeds of dog, French Bulldog newborns are born without the use of most of their senses — except for touch and taste.

Frenchies should spend some time with their mother after birth, as they need her milk and protection to feel safe and comfortable. After four weeks have passed, French Bulldog puppies will be using all their senses and they will begin to learn things from their mother and littermates.

Before adopting a French Bulldog, you should take the time to consider what you can do to extend the life of your French Bulldog. These dogs are great companions for all kinds of families – the French Bulldog deserves a long time in your life!

Wondering how you can help extend the life of your new pet? Here are some tips:

  • Watch what you eat . Like many other small breeds, French breeds are more prone to gaining weight than you might think. By feeding them a high-fiber diet and not too many treats, you can keep your Frenchie at a decent weight and easily extend their lifespan.
  • Consider all natural cleaning products . Your French Bulldog is naturally curious at any age. However, curiosity can lead to trouble, especially with a dog with a bad face. Your Frenchie could be inhaling unhealthy or chemical cleaning products without your knowledge. This can be done by doing laundry or simply cleaning floors. Remember your Frenchie when shopping for cleaning products!
  • Beware of anxiety . While Frenchies are generally very friendly and happy dogs, you should always pay attention to whether your Pit Bull is feeling anxious or restless. Anxiety can take a toll on anyone's life, but especially the lives of our lovely pets. Your French Bulldog may experience additional anxiety during stressful situations such as moving house, a new family member entering their life, and more.
  • Find a good vet . A reliable and knowledgeable veterinarian can go a long way, and even better if your Frenchie sees the same veterinarian year after year. That way, your veterinarian can alert you to any major changes in your dog's personality or health, and you can have someone you trust take care of them!
